| Kent C. Krause is managing partner for the Speiser Krause law firm's office in Dallas, Texas. Speiser Krause law firm has concentrated on mass disaster tort litigation, particularly in the area of commercial and general airline disaster , since the firm was founded in 1952. Members of the law firm have served as lead counsel or members of the Plaintiff's Steering Committee or represented victims in virtually every airline disaster in the United States and throughout most of the world.
Kent Krause received his undergraduate degree in 1979 and his Juris Doctor in 1982 from Southern Methodist University. He was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1982, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Texas in 1983, the U.S. Court of Appeals, and Fifth Circuit in 1984 and subsequently to the other Federal Districts in Texas. Before joining Speiser Krause in 1992 to open and manage the firm's Dallas office, Mr. Krause practiced extensively in all phases of business litigation, representing corporations and individuals as both plaintiff and defendant. Mr. Krause has litigated numerous business tort and contract claims, including tortuous interference with business relations, business defamation and disparagement and other emerging areas of business litigation such as trade secrets and non-competition disputes. Since joining Speiser Krause, Mr. Krause, while continuing his business litigation practice, has significantly expanded his role in aviation related and general personal injury, wrongful death, and products liability litigation matters. Having been involved with his father, Chuck Krause, in aviation all of his life, including piloting single-engine fixed-wing aircraft, Mr. Krause made a natural progression to aviation litigation matters. He has been actively involved in a number of general aviation litigation matters, including the Christie Brinkley helicopter crash in Telluride, Colorado, West Wind II crash in Guatemala, Beech Baron crash near Swansea, New Hampshire, Cessna 210 crash in Spicewood, Texas, Cessna 402B crash near Del Rio, Texas, Hot Air Balloon crash near Breckenridge, Colorado, Beech D-55 crash in Corsicana, Texas and the Confederate Air Force B-26 crash near Midland, Texas.
Additionally, Mr. Krause served as lead counsel for the firm in successfully handling cases arising from the crash of American Airlines Flight 1420 in Little Rock, Arkansas on June 1, 1999 and is currently involved in several cases arising from the crash landing of American West Flight 794 in Phoenix on August 28, 2002. Combining his personal aviation background with his commercial litigation experience, Mr. Krause is also active in expanding the law on purely commercial economic loss aviation cases.
