If babies were able to talk, maybe some interesting things would come up. They are silent witnesses of more things than people can imagine. Sadly, they are also silent victims of tragic emotional, physical and sexual abuses. Perpetrators of these crimes usually rely on the fact that children are defenseless and fearful of adults.
Even though babies are not able to tell if they are been abused or not, their bodies, gestures and habits speak for it. Many times we find bruises, burns, or dehydration signs on babies and when we ask the reason for it, parents or the person in charge of their cares just affirm they do not understand what happened. They will even say that there is no logical explanation. Well, great news: there is no such thing as unexplained injuries on babies. If a baby or an older child has physical and evident injuries, it is because there was someone stronger who hurt them at some point. Bruises and burns are just the result of beatings or mistreatments.
That is the reason why anytime we find any aggression indicators in children, we must hurry to seek its explanation. Therefore, it is crucial to inform the correspondent authorities about our suspicion. Then, they will be in charge of investigating the in-depth reasons of the apparent aggression. The caseworkers will have to explore the event of the injury and the circumstances that surround it in detail.
In case the investigators determine that the aggressors were the parents or the caregiver, the children will be separated from them until a better place to live is found. Denouncing these crimes is not only a moral duty we have as individuals, but also an opportunity we give these children to acquire a better lifestyle. They do not deserve to be victims of someone else's bad mental state.
