A new study demonstrated that some of the 100,000 soldiers that were exposed to Sarin nerve gas during the Gulf war in 1991 could suffer brain tumors because of this dangerous chemical. The study was realized by the Institute of Medicine and was made with 100,000 of the 300, 000 soldiers that had action in the Gulf and could have been exposed to the gas when it was destroyed. According the army spokespersons, the United States Forces did not make a statement at the moment when they smashed armaments enclosed with Sarin nerve gas since there were no instant signs of contamination by the chemical at the moment.
At that time, the gas was not known and its detection was only made after the war. It was until some inspectors were investigating on the Gulf when they realized about the danger and sometimes fatal effects of this weapon. According to a report published by the American Journal of Public Health, the soldiers that were exposed to this gas are likely to suffer of malign brain tumors than any other people. The study also shows that there is another illness caused because of the gas: this is called the Gulf War Syndrome, which is a mixture of changeable symptoms still between soldiers. This disease did not appear to be linked to any chemical biological gun.
There have been several deaths among veterans due to the direct contact with the gas, if you are a veteran and you have a brain tumor, you can make a claim against the U.S. Army and you could be awarded for the damages it has caused you.
