Andalusia Health Care Inspection Deficiencies Results

No one likes to see nursing home abuse or neglect.  The following information has been gathered from inspection results reported by the CMS.

Inspectors determined that the nursing home failed to:

1.Give proper treatment to residents with feeding tubes to prevent problems (such as aspiration pneumonia, diarrhea, vomiting, dehydration, metabolic abnormalities, and nasal-pharyngeal ulcers) and help restore eating skills, if possible. (07/22/2004)

2.Make sure that each resident who enters the nursing home without a catheter is not given a catheter, unless it is necessary. (07/22/2004)

3.Have enough nurses to care for every resident in a way that maximizes the resident's well being. (05/12/2005)

4.Make sure that staff members wash their hands when needed. (07/22/2004)

5.Put a bathroom in or next to each resident's room. (05/12/2005

6.Provide social services for related medical problems to help each resident achieve the highest possible quality of life. (07/22/2004)
