Women Are Now Using Small Claims Court More Than Ever To Get Their Money and Satisfaction

Single women, housewives and women who own small businesses are all finding small claims court to be their secret weapon.

(PRWEB) September 22, 2005 -- Helen McDole, from Nashville, Tennessee, was at a garage sale one Friday morning recently when a national package delivery truck backed into her car and drove off.

She contacted the company and they gave her the run-around and wouldn't take her seriously. They even told her that since the only witness she had was a relative, she didn't have a case. Bottom line: They refused to pay for the damages.

She paid a fee of about $50 and filed a small claims court case asking for the amount of the damages to her car and for the court costs. This took her about 45 minutes total (including driving to her local county court house and back.)

A week later she got a call from the company's attorney asking her if she would drop the case if they would send her a check for the damages and her filing fee. Three days later she received her check. She never had to go to court.

She got her money because she knew how to go to small claims court.

That's the way most small claims court cases go. Most of them are settled out of court. Women who know how to file a small claims court case in the first place get their money.

There is an old saying that goes like this, "When a person with money meets a person with experience, the person with the experience leaves with the money and the person with the money leaves with experience."

If you have the experience and knowledge of how to go to small claims court, you can leave with the money (the money the other person owes you). The person who has the money (the money he owes you) will leave with experience -- the experience of knowing not to mess with you again.

Laine Berg, from Hilton Head Island, SC said, "Learn to use the small claims court system and no one will ever be able to take advantage of you again."

Whether it's a business problem or a personal dispute about money, more and more women are learning to use the small claims court system to resolve their disputes.

Men are starting to use small claims courts, too. But in general, women want closure and men tend to let things drag out unresolved. Men are more likely to consider things like the costs of hiring an attorney and then decide to forget about the whole matter.

A lot of people don't realize that.

No attorney is required in small claims court and most people don't use an attorney.

Most experts even agree that it's actually easier to win in small claims court without an attorney.

The amount you can sue for in small claims court varies from $1,500 up to $25,000 or more depending on the state laws where you live.

For fifteen minutes of your time and a small filing fee of $15 to $75, you can get justice (and your money) in about 30 days or so in small claims court.

Many women say its actually fun seeing the bullies, bad guys and deadbeats squirm. And they say its even more fun getting to deposit their checks.

One woman said, "Don't let anyone get away with keeping the money you're entitled to. Use small claims court and you can resolve your dispute and get your money in a matter of days."

Imagine paying a $25 fee and winning $25,000 . . . plus, getting your $25 back. In small claims court it can be done.
