Forsters successfully piloted the WinScribe digital dictation system in 2004 for 21 staff which resulted in reduced document backlogs and improved team working. The firm subsequently rolled out the solution to nearly 100 staff and has become one of the first law firms in the UK to introduce WinScribes recently launched WinScribe Anywhere technology.

Our fee earners can quite literally be located anywhere and only need access to an Internet enabled PC to quickly and easily upload their dictations to the WinScribe system. This means that dictations can be securely uploaded, without ever having to worry about additional software or drivers.
The WinScribe system runs over Forsters firm-wide Citrix thin-client operating environment with each Forsters fee earner using a single Olympus DS-4000 handheld digital recorder for input wherever theyre working, making the entire dictation process straightforward and consistent.
Mr van Zijl said that WinScribes open architecture and popularity with outsourced transcription service providers also made the case for rolling out the system compelling.
A proportion of our transcription work is outsourced. Because the WinScribe system is compatible with a huge number of file formats and is widely used by outsourced transcription service providers weve been able to adopt these services without any disruption to working practices. Our fee earners simply select the relevant job type and where appropriate, the dictation is routed to our outsourced provider. The whole process is extremely simple.
SRC are providing full installation, training and support services for the roll-out of the system, including the customisation of each Olympus DS-4000 input device to include Forsters preferred folder structure and welcome message.
