Lorman Education Services presents "Sales And Use Tax" seminar on November 16

This "Sales And Use Tax" seminar is designed to provide a step-by-step approach to reporting and compliance issues and address the application of the Streamlined Sales Tax Program provision as adopted in Tennessee.

(PRWEB) September 22, 2005 -- Attendees will learn the structure of the Tennessee sales and use tax, its application to specific industries, the application of exemptions, and registration, reporting and record-keeping requirements. The seminar is designed to provide a step-by-step approach to reporting and compliance issues. The seminar also will address the application of the Streamlined Sales Tax Program provision as adopted in Tennessee.

William F. Buechler, Jr., is a certified public accountant and an executive with Crowe Chizek & Company LLC in Brentwood, Tennessee. He is the Tennessee SALT practice leader. Mr. Buechler concentrates his practice in representing clients involved in state tax controversies and providing multistate planning services. He received his B.A. and J.D. degrees from Vanderbilt University, where he was the book review editor for the Vanderbilt Journal of Transactional Law. Mr. Buechler is a co-author of the annual Tennessee Tax Guide, and is on the board of trustees of the Paul J. Hartman State and Local Tax Forum.

Joseph W. Gibbs is a member in the Nashville law firm of Boult, Cummings, Conners & Berry, PLC, where his practice is focused principally in the fields of state and federal taxation. He received his B.S. degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and his J.D. degree from Vanderbilt University, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and an associate editor of the Vanderbilt Law Review. Mr. Gibbs is a member of the Nashville, Tennessee and American Bar Associations, and is a member of the Property Tax Committee of the American Bar Association Section of Real Property, Probate and Trust Law, and the State and Local Tax Committee of the American Bar Association Section of Taxation. He is the past president and a current member of the board of trustees of the Paul J. Hartman State and Local Tax Forum, and is a frequent lecturer on state and local taxation.

Brian J. Kirkell, is a manager with Crowe Chizek & Company LLC in Brentwood, Tennessee. He has over six years of tax consulting and publishing experience, and has wide-ranging expertise in federal, state and local, and international taxation. Mr. Kirkell has authored articles regarding property taxes, sales and use taxes, international consumption taxes, and U.K. income and corporation taxes. He has represented clients before federal, state and local taxing authorities, and has participated in a variety of federal, state, local and international engagements. Mr. Kirkell holds a B.A. degree from the University of Rochester and a J.D. degree from The George Washington University Law School. He is licensed to practice law in the state of Tennessee and is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association and The American Bar Association.

This one-day seminar is designed for accountants, controllers, accounts payable professionals, CFOs, tax managers and officers, presidents, vice presidents and bookkeepers.
